What to Bring to a Boudoir Session: Props That Set the Mood

One of my favorite parts about boudoir sessions is how personal they can be. We’re in the studio creating images that feel like you and we want to make sure we’re add that little personal flair that makes them unique.

Props can take your session from beautiful to unforgettable, giving your photos a layer of personality and mood that’s completely unique. Whether you’re going for sultry or playful, the right details can set the vibe.

Here are some of my favorite boudoir props to bring into your shoot:

1. Clothing Beyond Lingerie

Yes, lingerie is classic, but sometimes it’s the unexpected pieces that make the biggest impact. Think oversized band tees, leather jackets, or your partner’s button-down. These pieces can feel both intimate and effortlessly cool.

Pro tip: A loose knit sweater falling off your shoulder is just as sexy as a lace set.

2. Heels & boots

Shoes say a lot. Stilettos can elongate your legs and give that high-fashion edge, while chunky heels lean into a more rebellious vibe. Cowboy boots also bring the heat!

4. Hats & Accessories

Wide-brimmed hats, chunky jewelry, or delicate chains draped across your body; these small details can make your session feel editorial and cinematic. Accessories aren’t about covering up; they’re about highlighting the curves and lines of your body in creative ways.

5. Personal Items

This is where boudoir becomes storytelling. A record player, a favorite book, a glass of whiskey, even your guitar — anything that reflects your personality or lifestyle can be woven into the shoot. These details make the images yours.

At the end of the day, props aren’t about clutter — they’re about intention. They should enhance the vibe, not distract from it. Whether you show up with nothing but yourself or a bag full of favorite items, your session will be incredible because you are the main character.
